A Soviet sentry fired two bursts from a submachine gun at a U S Army sedan in East Berlin on Sunday. No one was injured. The United States protested strongly calling the shooting dangerous and unjustified and urged disciplinary action and steps to prevent repeats. The incident occurred near a Soviet base as the car turned in a sparsely settled area.

Rebels attack in Viet Nam by Viet Cong at Mekong outpost
Viet Cong battalion overran an out post south of Saigon and attacked four nearby positions. At least seven were killed and 13 wounded, a U.S. helicopter was shot down after an oil line was severed. Casualties at other posts were light and Viet Cong losses were unknown. American advisers estimated heavy Viet Cong losses in the opening clash and follow up air strikes.

William Keith Morrow died at noon Wednesday in the Iowa Soldiers Home at Marshalltown where he had lived since 1963 after a stroke. NFO seeks higher livestock prices via holding action
The National Farmers Organization manned posts in 23 states from Idaho to Pennsylvania to press a holding action designed to drive up prices for cattle sheep and hogs. President Oren Lee Staley urged non members to join and said contracts would stabilize farmers prices at target levels while expanding nationwide to force price realization by buyers.
