Lights Fail At Sidney Rodeo Box Office Attempt
An apparent attempt to rob the Sidney rodeo box office was thwarted when the arena lights went out about 30 minutes after the show began. Rodeo committee member Stewart Foster heard a dark voice say, Let’s call it off. There were too many people around. Officers from Fremont County, state patrolmen, and detectives from Omaha and Kansas City rushed to guard the box office.

Mother of Three Wins Painting Prize at Iowa Fair

Washington drivers responded to a state patrol invitation to test headlights last night. From eight to ten o clock fifteen cars were checked. twelve were properly lit while three were out of focus or misaligned. Patrolman D O Braden led the effort with help from local police and scouts.

Carl Pietzch aged 41 of Toolesboro died in Burlington Hospital from injuries from an auto accident in Wapello last night. Officials said the wreck happened when Robert Gustafson of Wapello tried to pass a car driven by Jim Ruble of Wapello.

Keller Injured In Grinnell Auto Crash
George J. Keller Iowa administrator for the Works Progress Administration was critically injured in an automobile accident near Grinnell Iowa on Highway six. He was alone and tried to avoid two bicyclists. His car hit a ditch and stopped in a pasture. He was taken to Community Hospital with a crushed chest and internal injuries awaiting a blood transfusion.

Samuel B Sands of Ainsworth Dies at 87
Samuel B Sands former mayor of Ainsworth died at 2 30 am in Washington county hospital after four months of ill health. He lived most of his life in Ainsworth except for years in Washington. He is survived by two daughters Mrs Ronald Hay and Mrs R R Uulse, three grandchildren and three siblings. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 pm in the Ainsworth Methodist church with burial in Ainsworth cemetery. Born October 22 1866 he married Georgia Shannon in 1890 who died in 1936.
