Ten thousand Civil War veterans in San Francisco marched in a two mile procession under tattered flags. Veterans from many states, led by a gray headed bugler, recalled heroism as they waited for weaker comrades and highlighted state regalia from Ohio to Vermont.

Badger State Posts Are Next in Line in Grand Parade

In a crowded procession, 300 Wisconsin officers marched with Illinois and other state contingents. General J. P. Rindell led the department, while General Arthur MacArthur and General Amos Cobb appeared in civilian attire. Surviving Bucktails and veterans marched, some using crutches or camp stools. The New York staff included M. W. Cartwright, New York City police chief. Tuscon notes a Cerro Prieto stamp mill washout and 10,000 tons of tailings lost to floods at a gold mine through cyanide extraction.

Youth loses legs in threshing accident in Mich
