The vocational education department at Iowa State College will run Saturday classes for teachers again this year. They begin September 30 and meet every two weeks for ten Saturdays across fall and winter.
Iowa City Dr Karl Klein assistant professor of social administration at the University of Iowa resigns to become associate professor of social administration at the University of Illinois. He has served as faculty adviser to Iowa students linked to Evangelical and Reform churches.
Glen Jungk aged 13 is in critical condition at Finley hospital after his uncle Melvin Zuber 40 shot him during a hunt. Doctors report a collapsed lung and multiple gunshot wounds to the arms legs and face.
Norma Leathers of Leon, 15, daughter of Mr and Mrs C L Leathers, overcomes a lifelong handicap to excel in skating swimming biking and dancing. Born with underdeveloped limbs she has undergone 16 operations and aims to become a radio entertainer.

John F. Stewart, 81, died at 12 15 PM at his home on North Marion Avenue after a long illness. He will be taken to Sherman’s funeral home for plans. He was a member of United Presbyterian Church and formerly lived in Jackson township.

Washington's Municipal band will join 28 groups in the All Iowa music festival at the Iowa State Fair running August 23 to September 1. The program features national radio orchestras and grandstand appearances, with four major acts to perform. A large dance floor will host nightly dances from August 24 through September 1.
Utica reports the Dairy Farmers union ordered suspension of all milk shipments under contract to strike-affected dealers in New York City. Archie Wright says higher producer prices motivated the action affecting about 15 distributors. New York City, population over seven million, faced 60 percent rations as upstate action aimed to tighten leverage.

Mrs Frank Lanta 62 of northwest Wellman died today at 1 30 after long illness. She had been with her sisters Mrs Nellie Spear and Ida Long and was transported from an Iowa City hospital nine weeks ago. Born November 4 1876 in Johnson County Iowa Anna Long Lantz attended the State University of Iowa and taught in rural schools before marriage. Funeral plans await her two sons' arrival.
A bus crash on Highway 20 near Dyersville Iowa claimed two lives including Miss Ollie Strickland 57 Chicago and an unidentified man about 50 who burned to death when the bus caught fire after a tire blowout. Six passengers were aboard with injuries including amputations and burns. The Black and White Lines bus en route from Dubuque to Fort Dodge plunged into a ditch, caught fire, and was aided by a bucket brigade before emergency crews arrived. The driver Paul Henkels was minorly hurt and assisted victims to hospital. An inquest is pending.
Iowa farmer Max Harlan, 42, travels to Philadelphia to try a new frozen sleep method developed by Temple University professors. He will be packed in cracked ice for five days to induce suspended animation while doctors test whether the approach can affect deep seated cancer.
She married Frank Lanta in November 1898 and is survived by her husband, four children including Mrs. Harley Long and Mrs. Ralph Hall of Wellman, Lawrence Lants of Chicago, Lieut. Carl Lanta of Meredith Colorado, two sisters Mrs. Nellie Spear and Ida Long, and six grandchildren.
