Dillon sees tax cut possibility for next year
Washington (UPI) Treasury Secretary Douglas Dillon told Democratic platform writers that Johnson era prosperity could enable a new round of tax cuts next year. He cited policy achievements, suggested wartime excise taxes could be repealed at the next session, and said 1967 or 1968 might see a balanced budget with growth and restraint. Walter Heller urged broader fund channels as revenues rise. Laurie Battle urged against excessive federal spending and sharp excise tax cuts.
