Mrs. S. R. Wallace, 92, died at 508 West Main Street Scotacm Sunday after a weeklong illness. Funeral at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home with Dr. Raymond Reed officiating. burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Born February 22, 1860 in Washington. married S. R. Wallace in 1882. Survived by two half sisters and many nieces and nephews.
Eleven people died in Iowa weekend accidents including a Clinton fire caused by a candle drop and two boys burned to death. A Davenport man Wayne Elwin aged 23 was struck by a Rock Island Rocket, and Mrs. Thomas McKenzie of Sioux City was killed when a train hit her car.
Typhoon Karen hit the Korean battle zone grounding Allied warplanes and sending Navy ships offshore to cover. The storm damaged the Seoul area and the Western front with high winds and heavy rain, threatening higher speeds tonight.

Keota D. Ek Tots Leinen died suddenly at his Keota area home Sunday night. The cause was a heart attack. Funeral plans were tentatively set for Wednesday afternoon at Marsh Funeral Home, pending arrival of California relatives. An obituary will run in Tuesday's Journal.
Mr and Mrs Jimmie Deuten of Cleveland Ohio are visiting at the home of their aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Julius Kunik.
David J. Robbins age 53 of Ames died in a hospital after a shotgun discharge while packing for a vacation he was preparing to take. Police said a tackle accidentally triggered the .12 gauge gun causing a shoulder wound. Robbins had served on Iowa State College's agronomy extension staff for seven years and earlier led Cresco schools for two decades.
Freshmen and new students entering Washington High School this fall will take part in an orientation day tomorrow at p.m. Principal Robert Vereteg announced locker assignments will be made between 12 and 1 Tuesday afternoon with a 50 cent deposit required. Student council president pro tem Ray Tweeten will lead the program.
