Joseph A. Soukup 54 died by suicide Monday. Coroner deemed no inquest. He lived on a farm 12 miles northeast of Washington in Riverside. Funeral at 2 pm Thursday in Washington Methodist Church. Burial in Glen Grove Cemetery. Military honors planned. Survived by wife Elsie, daughter Marcella, son Clayton, one brother, six sisters, two granddaughters. Estate long-time farmer and WWI veteran.

Born May 24, 1873 in Roseburg Oregon, he moved to Washington at age nine and was class valedictorian. longtime band leader and musician. He lived 68 years in Washington working as a cement and carpenter, member of St. James church. Survived by sisters Rose and Lucy, a niece Mrs. John Clay, and nephew Karl Langenberg of California.
