The Washington Independent School District filled the last teaching vacancy with Mrs. Robert Everetts as substitute teacher for speech and dramatics. Everette Coon and Isadore Houseal were hired as custodians and tuition rates for elementary and high schools were set. The board announced bid dates for a new high school addition and approved the coming year’s budget totaling $570,275.

PMA Plans Purchase Of Hay For Southern States Relief
The county PMA committee led by Howard L. Witting will buy and ship hay to Kentucky and Tennessee, with 250,000 tons expected in Iowa and deliveries to freight cars. Prices range 18 to 24 dollars per ton, inspected at loading. Two crashes near Wayland injure one man and damage three vehicles.
