Plane Crash Near Kalona In a corn field crash in Kalona area injures couple
A single engine Piper Comanche ran out of gas and crashed into a corn field on the Ezra Miller farm about two miles north of Kalona yesterday evening at 6:30. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brenner of Sacramento were not seriously hurt and were treated in Kalona. A farm hand, Henry Swanson, witnessed the crash and said the plane briefly rose before landing in the corn field.

John Erlenbush dies at 74 in Washington County
John Erlenbush 74 died at his home 815 West Madison Street Tuesday after more than three years of ill health. Funeral 3 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Peterson officiating. Burial Elm Grove Cemetery. Born February 22 1890 in Cottonwood Falls Kansas he moved from Mt. Pulaski Illinois to Washington County in 1914 and later to town in 1943. He married Florence Alberta Gross January 20 1913 who died October 26 1961. He was a member of the Christian Church. Survivors include six children Chris of Springfield Missouri Mrs Helen Rathmel Ralph and Robert Erlenbush and Mrs Mary Jeffries of Washington and Mrs Ruth Goodwin of Moline Illinois nine grandchildren one great grandchild four sisters.
