A letter dated December 18 1943 and a card dated January 25 1944 from Zentsiyi prison camp urged family photos and mailed items. He noted a second birthday as a prisoner, asked for woolen clothing, cocoa, coffee, and other comforts, and said he was in good health though awaiting mail from home. He served in the Philippines from 1940 and was with the Infantry at Corrigedor when captured. A package sent in October 1942 had arrived earlier.
