Four Washington couples cruise 2000 miles by boat
Four area travelers from Washington, Denny Bohrofen and his wife with Roger and his wife, completed a 13 day trip by 18 foot Larson boat named the Lucky 4-B's. They cruised the Mississippi Ohio and Kentucky rivers from Keokuk to Chattanooga, enduring motor trouble, storms, and fuel gaps while detailing lockages and river scenery.

Rites Tuesday for Burr Bordwell Jr
Funeral services for Burr Bordwell Jr. 34 of 400 West Washington will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Washington Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Woeste officiating. Burial is in Elm Grove Cemetery with Jones Funeral Home in charge. He died Sunday morning from a personal safety related gun shot wound. a memorial for the Izaak Walton League was established. He was born March 15, 1930 in Davenport and was married January 30, 1955 to Doris Michel. Surviving are his wife four daughters, his father and stepmother, one brother and one sister. His body was found in a pickup truck on South Marion near Osincup's Drugs around 9:35 a.m. Sunday. police say the fatal bullet came from a .45 caliber pistol.

Truck crash near Ainsworth causes $15000 damage
A John Morrell truck was demolished around 3 30 this morning after hitting a cow one mile west of Ainsworth on 218. Sheriff Charles Snyder estimated damages at 15000 dollars. Driver James Alva Stookesberry of Ottumwa suffered bruises and a possible rib fracture. He swerved to avoid four cows owned by Steve Woods before the accident.
