Elizabeth Ann Duncan 58 was executed in the San Quentin gas chamber for arranging the murder of her pregnant daughter in law Olga Duncan 30. Her son Frank Duncan, who sought a reprieve, spoke with her before the execution. Moya 23 and Baldonado 28, Mexican American workers, pleaded guilty to the slaying. Duncan was denied insanity defense.

Two teenagers died and four others were critically injured in a headon collision on Iowa 150 about 2 1/2 miles south of Center Point.
