Waterloo reports twelve persons injured in a three car crash on a county road one mile north of Dike. Henry Roberts 50 Reinbeck driver of one car unhurt but jailed in Grundy county on a 500 bond for driving while intoxicated. Authorities say Jans and Johnson cars sped north about 100 feet apart when Roberts sideswiped Jans and hit Johnson head on.

Woman Killed and Seven Injured in Highway Collision
A two car crash on Highway 1 east of Marengo killed Cedar Rapids woman Elizabeth Whipple 54 and injured her two daughters three granddaughters and Cedar Rapids merchant and wife. Deputies said a tire blowout caused the Whipple car to swing into the Newburger vehicle. Mr and Mrs Newburger were taken to St Luke’s hospital Cedar Rapids. He suffered a broken leg and severe dental injuries.

Boy Seriously Hurt In Bicycle Car Crash
Paul Claassen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Claassen of Parkersburg, is listed in critical condition after an automobile bicycle collision on Highway 14 north of Parkersburg. The bicycle struck by Herman Jaarsma of Pella. Paul suffered chest lacerations and four broken ribs. He and an unnamed companion were returning to Parkersburg when the crash occurred.

Picnic Cow Testing Group judged cattle and awards given
Members of the First Bi monthly Cow Testing association of Washington county held a picnic cattle judging tour and contests with 135 attendees from 30 families.
