In a Honolulu report Dick Gregory said he turned a letter over to the FBI naming the likely site near Philadelphia Mississippi where three missing civil rights workers were buried and naming the killers. The FBI declined comment while investigators pressed on with probes at the dam site and graves. The victims were Andrew Goodman Michael Schwerner and James Chaney.

Vaughn Rinner topped the Washington County 4-H and FFA baby beef show with both grand and reserve grand champion Angus entries. The grand champion weighed 965 pounds and the reserve 1 020 pounds. Hereford champions were Roger and Mark Griffith of Crooked Creek Cyclones, with 975 and 890 pound entries respectively. Washington County Fair sets record calf prices in baby beef sale
Record prices were set at the Washington County Fair Baby Beef Sale. Miss Vaughn Rinner of Washington sold a 1005 pound Grand Champion Angus for 753.75 to HyVee Washington at 75 cents per pound, while Jan Hotle sold an 865 pound Shorthorn Champion to Kent Feeds representative for 302.75 at 35 cents per pound. Roger Griffith’s 965 pound Hereford Champion sold to Kalona Sales Barn for 243.66 at 25.25 cents per pound, and the Reserve Grand Champion Angus 1025 pounds went to Fareway Store of Washington for 302.30 at 29.50 cents per pound. Mrs Doak of Washington provided a sidelight, recalling 1934 when she became Iowa’s first county grand champion girl to exhibit baby beef and later sold it for far lower prices.
