Finland's farming nation with small cultivated area
Finland is a largely farming and dairy country with over 3 percent of the population employed in those sectors, yet cultivated land covers less than one tenth of the nation’s area. Principal crops include northern rye, barley, oats, wheat, potatoes, and hay. Before the war Finland exported forest and dairy products and imported machinery, meat, fruit, coffee, grains, tobacco, and processed foods.
