Tim Colbert of the Riverside Ramblers 4,H Club scored 200 points to win the individual livestock judging at the Washington County Fair. Donnie Brinning of Dutch Creek finished second, with Mike Augustine and Bill Brinning tied for third. The Dutch Creek Flyers topped the team event with .759 points, while Riverside Ramblers were second at 732 and Keota FFA third at 722.

Judging of 4 H girls clothing exhibits at the fair ended Tuesday and they proceed with demonstration teams. Winners in many classes are listed by ribbon color, including blue red and white. Davenport Floods Prompt Rally Over Poor Drainage
Heavy rains flooding a low lying Davenport area along the Blackhawk Creek drove residents to threaten a march on city hall. Water reached car top level in Garden Addition as Duck Creek overflowed near 34th Street and Mill Creek rose in Milan Illinois. Police and officials noted inoperative sewers since April and pumps overwhelmed by rising water as U.S. 67 closed between Preemption and Boden. The Mississippi River rose about 12 inches while Garden Addition began receding after peaking.
