Army Calls 62000 Non Organized Reservists for 21 Months Duty
The Army announced it would mobilize 62 000 nonorganized reserve personnel for 21 months of active duty starting September and October. About 22 000 report by Sept 15 and 40 000 by Oct 15, with priority by dependents and age 19 to 25. Enlisted reserves, mostly World War II veterans, will be drawn nationwide to reinforce National Guard and Organized Reserve units. No officers are affected.

Fort Leonard Wood Missouri August 4 UP Nebraska and Iowa National Guardsmen resumed practice as a former National Guard Bureau head predicted they will be called to active duty soon. Maj. Gen. Butler Miltenberger retired commander of the 34th Nebraska Infantry and former assistant commander of the 5th Division made the forecast at a regiment officers and veterans reunion. He said in his opinion facilities will be ready for call up and urged troops to prepare. He noted no question that they may soon be dashed forth to serve the country.
