Des Moines reports 14 year old Al Bisignano suffered shoulder burns when a firecracker thrown from a hotel window exploded in his shirt. He was hospitalized for treatment.
John F. Low of Sioux City a 36 year old wholesale grocery salesman was paroled from a one year jail term after pleading guilty to embezzling money from his firm.
Sibley municipal utilities superintendent Earl Truckenmiller died after touching live wires while moving a house. He had phoned the plant to disconnect all lines before the accident. Assistant Leon Levnen suffered injuries in the incident.
Iowa City painter Jack O'Brien aged 37 sustained a fractured elbow and possible internal injuries after a fall from a downtown building second story window. He was hospitalized for treatment.
Emmetsburg reports Donald Stephan, 18, of Ayshire area, died from chest injuries after a hayrack loaded with oats rolled over him on Saturday as he tried to halt a runaway team.
Hearing to determine who shall be guardian ad litem for Fred Toy in litigation over the estate of his father James F. Toy banker. The case centers on Toy and his wife Beck Toy seeking the guardianship role from James F. Toy and Mrs. J. W. Van Dyke. The session is set for next Tuesday in Sioux City.
