Warranty price plan limits Iowa used car dealers
Only 460 of Iowa's 775 registered used car dealers qualified to sell warranty priced cars before the July 31 deadline. George MacDonald of the OPA said the other 315 must sell at the same ceiling prices as individual sellers. CPA advised purchasers they can sue for triple the overcharge if paid to unauthorized dealers. Authorized dealers may add up to 25 percent for fixing up a car and guaranteeing it.

Seed corn detasseling is under way in Des Moines with about 40,000 workers expected over the next three weeks. Injured man falls from phone pole at home

Allied Bombardment and Submarine Action Reported Near Japan
On August 1 U S land based planes and a submarine bombed and shelled targets in the Osaka Kobe area and Tomakomai after a 50 minute air raid and a 30 minute submarine shelling. Corporal Clifford Tait, brother of Wayne Tait, is discharged after three years service with 99 points. He will live in Washington at 520 East 7th Street and help in the Tait radio and appliance store. He served in Africa Sicily and Europe earning six campaign stars and a Purple Heart, and was a five month prisoner of war.
