Beginnings of St Paul United Church of Christ in Washington Iowa
History traces the Evangelical Church of Dutch Creek to 1856 and the Paris parish forming church in 1857. German settlers built a flourished valley parish with early leaders, merging Washington and Valley Evangelical churches into a yoked parish. The 1905 building, 1923 parsonage, and later remodellings reflect steady growth under pastors including Michels Klein and Klein successors.
