Miss Viana McCown, director of nursing education in Iowa, urged a standard requiring at least two years of completed college before admission to nursing training. She spoke at a session of the Iowa Hospital association convention in Des Moines.
Ames Iowa State College president Charles F Friley was also a student on campus and a newly initiated Sigma Alpha Epsilon member. Friley enrolled as a special student since honorary memberships are not accepted by the fraternity.
In Shenandoah only janitor Karl Chambers showed up at the Armory to hear Norman Baker of Muscatine speak. Baker sought the Republican nomination for senator as three violet cars heralded his arrival.

Members of Y's Men's clubs from Ottumwa Oskaloosa Muscatine Moline and Washington travel to Springfield Illinois this afternoon for a charter ceremony tonight at the newly organized club sponsored by the Washington group. Washington delegates Dr W W Dwyer Ted Brown Lewis Warren Dunham Morrison and Dick McCleery lead the group.
Thousands of Ethiopian fighters stagger into Addis Ababa from the Dessye corridor after a retreat from the Italian advance. Gas casualties are reported and Crown Prince Assan Wasan orders a large camp outside the city to keep Addis Ababa an open town, preventing violence.
Ek M Pierce wood-worker and furniture repairman moves his shop this week from North avenue B near the county jail to North Iowa avenue near the National Bank of Washington. The rear of the building will host Pierce shop with the Jorging tin shop in front. The new site is closer to paved streets and a larger square. moving will close Wednesday and Thursday, reopening Friday morning.

Glen Hazen of Ottumwa will aid the Farm Bureau in organizing a cooperative Poultry Marketing association. A meeting is set for Thursday evening at 8 15 in the G A R room of the courthouse. All farmers interested in better poultry and egg prices are urged to attend.

Key business includes the proposed new constitution for the merged Evangelical and Reformed churches and electing delegates to the general conference in Fort Wayne Indiana from June 10 to 26.
