Car stolen from 608 East Jefferson Street
A car owned by Robert Conrad was stolen from his residence parking area on East Jefferson Street during Friday night. Two front wheels were missing and several trunk items were taken. The vehicle was found on the Wilbur Schantz farm near Havre Washington. Firefighters were called out of town to two fires Friday afternoon including the Kolosick farm brush fire and a timber fire near Red Brick School.

Army Band to Perform at Local High School Sunday
The YMCA sponsors a Sunday 1:30 p.m. concert by the 34th Army Band in the high school auditorium, followed by an old fashioned ice cream social and a pie donation drive for the YMCA World Service fund. The program features the full band, a Dixieland Group, and a Stage Band with marches and pieces from Porgy and Bess, Rain Medley, Eternal Father Strong to Save, and Nutmeggers March. The Dixieland Group plays That’s a Plenty. the Stage Band includes tunes by Hoagy Carmichael, Glenn Miller, Herb Alpert and Duke Ellington. The Army Band, directed by Warrant Officer Ronald Prill and with Bandmaster Sgt. John Jackson, has 26 enlisted men and has won the Eisenhower Trophy four times for Iowa’s best unit.
