C. W. McLohn, a farmer, escaped an enraged bull by gripping the animal's nose, leaving him practically nude as the bull ripped his clothes away and rolled him, until he crawled under a fence for safety.
Milford report says Fred Kang, a farm bureau service driver, lost 76 dollars after his billfold with 600 dollars in cash and checks was left in old overalls he discarded in a fire. He transferred his own funds to cover the purchase of new overalls.
DES MOINES reports the state conservation commission stocked more than 49 million fish across Iowa waters during 1935. The announcement highlights extensive fishery efforts and the reach of stocking programs statewide.

Des Moines reports 410 horse drawn vehicles carry school children to classes as motor age advances. An annual rundown by state superintendent Agnes Samuelson shows 2,562 buses and cars in use, transporting 59,455 pupils at public expense last year for $1,469,000, averaging $24.71 per pupil.

Donald Wemett, 27, admitted killing his friend Mark Carbine, 53, after a taxi dispute near Dubuque. Wemett said he beat him and left him to walk, then was arrested with 30 cents in his possession.

The Washington Cheese Company owned by Fe A Umland announces the opening of a new cheese factory at 311 North Fourth Avenue next Monday. The plant will have 8000 pounds milk capacity, a whey storage tank, a large cheese press, and multiple trucks to collect milk from rural areas. Farmers may bring milk or request pickup. The venture partners with kraft and other buyers and will not retail. The Washington Chamber of Commerce aided the move, and officials expect strong milk demand and prices with cans arriving soon.
Three West Virginia tax officials face conspiracy charges over manipulating gasoline tax refunds. After the fraud was found, Boyd Ferrell killed himself at the State House in Charleston. Budget Director Frank Carl Horn and J. C. Littl were arrested and freed on $5,000 bail.

Governor Clyde Herring commuted Arch Breeding's death sentence for the Red Oak murder to life in prison citing divided Iowa Supreme Court decisions and a Montgomery county bar association recommendation. Herring had previously refused mercy for three other killers including Pat Griffin Elmer Brewer and Reginald Tracy.
Two hundred six Iowa corporations failed to file income tax returns with the state board. Firms prefer paying the six percent penalty to the uncertain outcome if the law is struck down by the courts.
The Methodist Church choir unveiled a weekly attendance prize at last night’s rehearsal. Mrs. R. A. Hender won the prize chosen by W. C. Hedges. The group aims for fifty members and voted to resume permanent rehearsals on Wednesday evenings at Tre 18.
