Washington April 24 Mrs James Franklin Trottman Milwaukee Wis defeated yesterday for officer as vice president general of the Daughters of the American Revolution charged a false and malevolent campaign she was called a pacifist and socialist. The D A R urged stricter immigration restrictions and deportation of communists and criminals, pushed naval buildup to treaty limits and urged travel on American vessels to support the merchant marine. They opposed recognizing Soviet Russia and sent a resolution to the president secretary of state and senate committee. They supported an oath of allegiance for teachers and proposed extending it to college professors to bar foreign instructors.

Family burned to death in Ohio cabin fire
In Ivy, Ohio, on Duck Run, Charles Crabtree and his brother Harold died after Charles poured kerosene on live coals in the kitchen stove.
