Washington County faces rural school mergers under new law
Twelve rural districts in Washington County must hold elections to join a high school district by April 1 1968. If no preference is shown, the county board will assign areas to a high school district. A new state law requires all districts to be in a high school district by July 1 next year. Indian Creek near Washington already plans merger with Washington district, potentially July 1 this year. New Washington bike license and safety rules enacted
A new city ordinance requires all bicycles in Washington to be licensed and registered at the chief of police office. Licenses cost 25 cents and are permanent unless lost or destroyed. FFA State Convention Opens in Davenport with 2000 Delegates
The 37th annual Leadership Conference of the Iowa Association Future Farmers of America opened in Davenport with about 2,000 delegates attending.
