Oil store fire in Oskaloosa causes heavy losses
A major blaze erupted at Greene & Bentley in Oskaloosa early April 22 burning the oil room and the adjacent U.S Express Company building. The fire damaged the law offices of Malcolm & Seevers, Judge Blanchard, the Oskaloosa Savings Bank, and Hl. Strasburger’s large dry goods house, with total losses over 100000, partially insured. Firefighters contained the flames by eight in the morning.
