WPA workers leave projects for private jobs in Des Moines
In Des Moines 513 WPA workers quit their project jobs for private employment the week ending last Saturday. State WPA administrator George J. Dangles by Broken Wrist in Train Freight Car
George Heston 39 of Fairfield Iowa dangled with a broken wrist beneath an ice hatch as a Northern freight train carried him over 100 miles from Evansville Minnesota to St. Cloud. He was heard by trainmen in the yards and rushed to a hospital where authorities said he was recovering. He said the accident happened when he propped the hatch open and the train started.
