In Estherville Arlene Faye Boyster eight weeks old daughter of Mr and Mrs Orville Boyster suffocated while sleeping with her mother Coroner Fred Sternborg reported.
Decorah resident Myron Kfarland pleaded guilty to stealing $30 worth of clover seed and received a five year sentence at Anamosa reformatory.
Thomas Wicker sham 18 Melbourne and Earl Lynn Traer pledges of the Farm House fraternity at Town state college Ames were compelled to wear dresses borrowed from Tri Delta coeds to go shopping for the Delta Delta Delta sorority as part of initiation.
A Humboldt county farm located northeast of Humboldt and owned by the Miner family for 79 years sold to W. D Hauck of Livermore for 14 058 dollars. Harlow Miner, an early settler, purchased the land in 1859.
Burglars forced entry to the local post office drilled the safe using tools from a nearby garage and carried off about $200 in stamps and cash. Detective units investigate and search for suspects and stolen goods.

Washington D C April 20 The $1 25 billion relief fund would create or save 2 8 million jobs over nine months Assistant Secretary Hopkins told the House Appropriations Committee as hearings opened on the omnibus relief bill.
Iowa officials and Secretary Wallace discuss possible readjustment of acreage allotments. Governor Kraschel says the initial allotments were hurried and may be renewed later when more time is available.
Opponents led by Senator Gerald Nye declared opposition to the $1.156 billion navy building bill in the Senate. Nye warned that moving toward five billion dollars for national defense was unnecessary and urged defeat of the measure.
ALBIA Iowa coal institute secretary Hugh W Lundy said he sent telegrams to Iowa congressmen urging resistance to a river survey. The measure, reported by the rivers and harbors committee, proposes a dam at Madrid. Lundy noted army engineers find extensive river development impractical.
John McGugin of Washington Iowa, son of Roy and the late residents now in California, heads camera work for Disney on Snow White. An early Disney apprentice, he earned pay as his training proceeded and rose to chief cameraman overseeing the film’s photography.

Harold Fulton and Wes ley Anderson crawled from under a overturned tractor on the Fulton farm. The plow struck a hidden stump causing the tractor to topple while they toiled near a fence row. John Combs needed to pull the machine upright. Both men escaped injury though shaken by the incident.
Mrs Vernon Crull sustained a fractured and dislocated right shoulder after a fall at the Tri Delta sorority house in Iowa City while attending a Home department meeting. She was taken to Mercy hospital for X rays and cast for several weeks. her husband and Louella Patton accompanied her and planned to bring her home after treatment.
A blaze at the Mt. Clemens race track stables during a thunderstorm killed thirteen horses, left six missing, and burned three people severely. Local firefighters battled the flames overnight as investigators began assessing the scene.
Warrant charges allege sale of cigarettes to minors at 82 Des Moines drug stores. 13 people were taken into custody as the investigation identified owners or employees involved in illicit sales.
W A Anderson former Clinton City National Bank president was convicted on two of 39 counts charging violation of federal banking laws misapplication of funds and was fined 1000. The judge noted acquittal on most counts and allowed no appeal due to cost. Anderson said he was relieved to be exonerated on the honest charges but disappointed by the remaining findings.
The Heights bond issue for a new north town grade school failed to reach the 60 percent threshold in yesterday's vote, totaling 996 in favor, 942 against. The total votes were 1,994 with three spoiled ballots. next steps and a possible smaller project are under discussion by the school board and Heights PTA.
