FBI Plans for Recapturing Escaped Prisoners of War
E R Fletcher of the FBI outlined at a Hotel Kirkwood conference a step by step alert plan for recapturing POWs who escape from Clarinda and Algona camps. The protocol calls for the camp commander to notify the nearest sheriff and state patrol, then teletypes to FBI headquarters and major area cities, plus radio and newspaper coordination. If not found quickly, a central search office near the camp would coordinate efforts.

Stewart and Eagle Lose 600 Turkeys in Farm Fire
About 600 five week old turkeys perished yesterday in a broader house fire on the John A. Stewart farm northeast of town. The loss was shared by Stewart and Eagle and covered by insurance. The Farmers' Mutual fire truck arrived and firefighters saved two other houses with about 600 more young turkeys, keeping the blaze within one structure.
