Wayland Completes 73 Gallon Well For Town Water System
Oral Conrad, Wayland city clerk, reports the new well yields 73 gallons per minute and a planned 40,000 gallon, 75 foot tower is under construction. The project began with an $80,000 bond issue in 1959, later financed by $69,000 in bonds, and involves 17,000 feet of mains, hydrants, and improvements to serve the town. The well reaches 1,415 feet, tapping the St. Peter Limestone for adequate supply and softer water than existing private wells.
