Three Chariton women Elsie Blakesmith Dorothy Schrader and Dorothy Swanson escaped with minor injuries when their car plunged off a hill south of Chariton on Highway 65 missing a bridge shearing two treetops and landing upside down 100 feet from the road en route to a Des Moines banquet. They were taken to a Warren County hospital.

Two Men Sentenced by Judge Siegers in District Court
This morning in district court Judge P. J. Siegers sentenced Everett Smart to three months in the county jail after pleading guilty to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.
