Two men die and one is critically injured in separate road crashes across Iowa. Joe Joseman dies from burns after a brush fire trap near Lovilla, while Magnus Ford perishes in a head on collision near Decorah, and Milton Underwood is hospitalized in critical condition. Delbert Anderson dies as dirt collapse traps him near Atlantic. Elmer Koch dies in an oil truck crash near Slater. Alfred Jensen fatally injures when his tractor plunges into a farm bridge. Jerome Osborn wounded in Des Moines robbery. Alfred Chase shoots Osborn and is wounded in return fire.
The Senate passed a measure to lower income tax on small earners while raising taxes on wealthier states and oils products including sesame and whale oils. The plan, amended by Senator Couzens, would impose a blanket 200 percent increase on all income taxes and create new levies to fund federal revenue needs.
Davenport April 14 A federal court jury acquitted Carlton D. Beh a Des Moines investment banker of forging Ottumwa PWA loan documents for a federal funds project. He faces separate conspiracy charges with Lieut. Gov. Kraschel and goes to Des Moines for a joint trial.
Funeral services for Jane E K Bidwell are planned for 8 30 afternoon at the men’s funeral home. Dr. B W Eastwood of the Presbyterian church will officiate with burial at Elm Grove cemetery. Merle Bidwell of San Francisco is due to arrive in Washington Sunday night for the funeral.
Organized labor reports about 2,681,348 paid up members in March, a rise of 4,555 since August. The gain follows broader union recruitment with Blue Eagle support, though some members are unpaid due to unemployment, indicating the total is higher than the paid figure.
Beverly Hills observers urge a bipartisan committee to probe the fishing claim and the future direction of the country. They insist on a fair inquiry with three Democrats and two Republicans, arguing investigations must reach high levels if needed.

Charles W. Davis of Pasadena received word that his father L. R. Davis died in Pasadena California at age 74. Burial is planned in California. Davis spent most of life in Washington and moved to California eleven years ago. He was a builder in Washington and erected many local structures including the Washington county hospital and other buildings.
Washington April 14 United Press reports Representative Bieber of Iowa’s first district identified today among 141 House members who signed a petition on inflation legislation. The note cites ongoing push for action and notes the petition’s signatories in Congress.
Deputy Sheriff H. M. Putnam traveled to Chicago to secure Glen Genkinger under indictment for larceny and embezzlement. Genkinger, indicted last year, was arrested in the Chicago area and will waive extradition. He is charged with embezzling 40 dollars from Brighton Creamery in July 1933 and stealing corn from Harry Wentworth of Brighton, about the same time.
A lobbying effort seeks a vote on the Prazier Lemke currency inflation bill. Most Iowa delegation members sign the petition and 145 percent signatures are needed to compel a floor vote.
Wellman leads sweepstakes with 149 points in class C and a plaque awaiting at the close.
