Murderer Captured Near Lineville After Pursuit

The killer of George Perry was tracked by train crew near Lineville and captured when confronted with a Springfield rifle. He was taken to Trenton Mo for Perry to ID him. A revolver with one empty chamber was found. the Porter was wounded in the right lung but survived.

Mrs. Violet Bailey of Wayland dies at ninety

Mrs. Violet Bailey of Wayland died yesterday at age ninety from old age. She was mother to Sim Bailey former county auditor and grandmother to G Cook a telegraph operator at Eldon.

Jail inmates to work on city streets proposal approved

A proposal to employ jail inmates for street work won board approval. A letter complains of inmates’ lack of character and suggests rock piles and whipping tarred tramps, while other notices advertise a six day a week journal and rental offers.

Quarry blast injures Eckels as he burns hand

Will Eckels set off a blast at Eckels quarry when a fuse lit and a match allegedly dropped into a powder bucket. His hand burned badly. Dr Jenkins dressed the wound but recovery is hoped. The item appears in the Wayland News along with local society notes.
