A tramp shot and killed a porter at Harvard Illinois as the train halted for water. The assailant fled. bloodhounds are on the trail and a timely arrest is hoped for. Conductor Crawford accompanied the porter. the conductor’s name was not learned.
Yesterday at three pm at the brides parents home near town, John T. Beamer and Elizabeth H. Glenn wed. Rev. J. H. Elliott and Rev. H. R. Stark officiated. only family attended. The couple planned a short Chicago Oberlin Easter trip before settling in Washington. Beamer, a rising local businessman, has held multiple posts and earned recognition in insurance and other ventures. The bride, a noted local teacher and academy graduate, previously taught at Monmouth College and in Sioux City. The paper also reports a social tea for Mrs. Will Harris, target shooting games, and a digest of local events, weather, and upcoming bicycling meet details.
