At a Lincoln school auditorium banquet, Washington high school basketball players were honored with letters. Returning lettermen Vic Manussier and Gary Gorham received a second letter. new major letters went to Paul George, Phil Leyden, Roger Waggoner, Marie Beenblossom, Gene Williams, and Harold Messenger, with minor awards to Chuck Reed, Frank Sojka, Robert Truax, Doug Fuhr, Marvin McClure, and Gene Jugenheimer. Wally Schwank, Iowa State University freshman football coach, spoke on ambition and early development for athletic greatness. Moving pictures of the Iowa Notre Dame game were shown after the address.

Division chairmen of Washington county hobby show met at the YMCA to draft final plans for the event to be held April 19 20 and 21. Plans cover maximum exhibits judges and display arrangements with divisions led by W R Gross Mr and Mrs Charles Morris Mr and Mrs Alsip Mrs Albert Lay Mrs Wal ter Jarrard Robert Choate Bob Logan and others. Entries must be brought to the YMCA Thursday April 19 between 4 and 9 pm with exhibits arranged that evening and judging Friday morning. The show opens Friday afternoon and runs all day Saturday with insurance and guarding provided.

Funeral Services Held For Pfc. Fred E. Zook
Pfc Frederick E K Zook was killed in an automobile accident near Phenix City Alabama. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Presbyterian church with Dr W J Grossheim and Rev W J Stevens presiding. An honor guard from Fort Benning Georgia participated, with pallbearers named Thomas Murphy Richard Moothart Leland Schmitt Jerry Denison Robert Noonan and Herman Gray. Burial followed at Im Grove cemetery.

Appeal to High Court In Wapello Sentencing
An appeal to the Iowa Supreme Court from the manslaughter conviction of Jackie Schraeder Grandview was filed yesterday in district court here. Schraeder was sentenced to eight years in Anamosa penitentiary last March 1 on his conviction of manslaughter in connection with a fatal accident. Police identified Schraeder as the driver of a car involved in an accident that took the lives of Oral Courtney Grandview and Clarence Addey Burlington.
