Captain Donaldson Max Donadson has been promoted to captain in the air corps and is stationed at Lexington Field Texas after completing an officer training course at Fort Riley Kansas. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Fred Donaldson and arrived as a first lieutenant with Troop D from Camp Bowie Texas. He has served at Lex ington field since the start of the year.

Congressman Thomas F. Martin addressed thirty five local Republican leaders at the North Side Cafe praising the midwest war effort. He urged letter writing from home, discussed conscription for training, and noted shipping as the greatest wartime bottleneck. Clinton is favored as a potential army hospital site while Martin aims to visit twelve counties in four days.

Local selective service annunciates final plans to mail occupational questionnaires to third registration registrants. The County Health Unit announces a child health conference for pre school children from two months to five years on Wednesday April 22 at Stewart School starting at 1 PM. Dr Ruth Church will be present to discuss health concerns and a physical exam will be offered with public health nurses assisting.
Services were held yesterday at two o'clock for Albert Ray Smith. Rev. E J Shook of Wayland conducted the funeral in the Jones Funeral Home chapel. Pallbearers were Vaughn Merle Myral Smith Sam Wittmer Orlin Witting Cedar Falls and Glen Hahn. Burial was in Crawfordsville cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs How ard Kerr were held at two o'clock this afternoon in the chapel of Jones funeral home. Rev. Alfred Trenerry conducted the service. Burial was in Elm Grove cemetery with pall bearers being Arthur Swift, Earl Smith, A. W. Yard, Harley Myers, George Williams and Charles Palmer.
