Rev. A. J. Yarrington of Lamona, justice of the peace and ordained minister of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, can perform either civil or church wedding ceremonies for couples with matrimonial intentions.
County Attorney Stanley M. Nielson outlined a vigorous prosecution for April 14 as cases against C. O. Gustafson former board president Herman Larson Calvert Johnson Edward Opheim and John Wonderly proceed. They allegedly diverted 59 tons of school coal to their homes in 1935.
Webster City sheriff James L. O Malley wrung out bedclothes at the Johns Skare residence near Jewell to recover alcohol for evidence against Lois Skare. She was found in bed fully dressed, emptying a gallon can of alcohol during the officers search.

A former convict announced candidacy for sheriff while a county attorney sought guidance from the attorney general. Walter Maley, assistant attorney general, indicated the outcome would depend on whether the man's citizenship had been restored after penitentiary time in Iowa and prison time in Indiana.
Joseph Duncan Smith died after seven weeks of illness and was visited by his daughter Mrs George Hartholomew at her home three and a half miles west of Washington. Funeral services are set for Monday at L A Jones funeral home with Rev D C Fulton officiating. burial in Elm Grove cemetery. He was born January 17 1851 in Coldwater Michigan and lived in Dutch Creek township before moving to South Dakota and back to this county four years ago. He leaves two daughters Mrs Howard Fisher of Grimes and Mrs Bartholomew and a brother Frank F Smith of Kankakee Kan.
In Shansi a major Communist assault failed as government forces drove them from captured cities. An official report says about 4 005 reds killed or wounded, while a separate group of 2009 faced defeat at Lin heien with 600 casualties. American missionaries and families are based in Fenchow Pingyang and other Shansi cities.
In Port of Spain Trinidad an American Clipper air plane plunged into the water during takeoff. Three men died including two Americans and an Englishman. A launch rescued 22 to 25 aboard. The pilot reduced thrust to avoid a bigger catastrophe as the craft nosedived.

David Palmer 64 of Burns Kansas died last Sunday at home. He was married to Edith Niell and formerly lived in Washington. He is survived by his wife, three sons Paul Dick Rodney and a daughter Genevieve. Friends in Kalamazoo Michigan informed Mrs. John Wilson of his death.
After 24 hours of deliberation the jury was discharged by Judge Frank Beechly with no verdict in the highway collision damages case near West Chester in February 1936. Proceedings began last week with jury drawn, testimony taken, and arguments by Ralph Munro and 8. W. Livingston. jurors ordered to report again May 11 unless notified.
About 600 people attended each of the last six periods of the Washington Methodist church Good Friday observance. The multi church service divided into seven crosswords utterances featured leaders from six churches, with two hours of business closures and widespread lay participation. Easter services and a union choir oratorio were planned for Sunday.
