College musical groups present concerts in town
Monmouth college men's glee club and the Cornell college orchestra performed in local churches this weekend drawing large crowds. Dr T H McMichael spoke at Vesper, Glenn C Shaver led the Monmouth group, and Lucile Indra Her played violin solos with Alden Miller directing the Cornell program. Offerings supported expenses with 1146 attendees counted.

Roosevelt asks mortgage relief in farm reform plan
President Roosevelt urged Congress in a special message to include relief for farm mortgage indebtedness. The Senate Agriculture Committee finished the main farm bill and moved to report it. A farm credit bill would issue two billion dollars of land bonds to refinance mortgages and lower interest to avert forced liquidation.

Des Moines April 3 The Iowa House refused a full investigation of the state highway commission by a joint House Senate committee, 46 to 65 with seven absent. The original House committee will handle the inquiry and reported charges of collusion and conspiracy involving the commission and chief engineer Fred White in cement contracts. A Herring bill to protect bank depositors was delayed in the Senate to tomorrow to review eight amendments.

Sheriff seeks missing daughter of man found dead in Milan box car
Sheriff K H M Carty asks for help identifying a Washington woman believed to be the daughter of a man named O Reilly found dead today in a Milan Missouri box car. A letter in his papers from a Washington woman is thought to exist but the name is unknown.
