The Washington community schools will not hold classes Friday April 4 in observance of Good Friday and spring vacation. Students return Monday April 7. County tax officials report property tax millage in with one exception and six weeks to prepare tax bills.
Dwight D. Eisenhower was buried today in Abilene Kansas in a simple $80 GI coffin. A wind-swept crowd watched as ministers praised him as a servant leader and hero. Mamie Eisenhower wept as eulogies recalled his Kansas boyhood and lifelong ties to the heart of America. The interment closed a ceremonial procession through the Eisenhower Center with paths of meditation and a final lay to rest in a white chapel grave beneath the library steps.
