Five offenders are taken to the workhouse after a swift bootlegging crackdown by Mayor Coffey. The action establishes a new one day record for convictions or seizures, reflecting the city’s tough stance on illegal liquor sales.
Five men led to the Xenia work house after confessing bootlegging. Each fined 100 dollars plus costs. Church remitted 56 dollars and will join Orville Stookey in further punishment. Mayor Coffey vows workhouse time for those unable to pay.
Peaberry Coffee promises savings of at least seven cents per pound and offers a trial to compare with current brands. If not satisfied, no charge. Also features Roquefort Cheese in a green bag at 25 cents per pound.
