Men released from custody and ordered out of town are accused of burglarizing a depot at Fairview. The two individuals face new charges as authorities pursue recovery of stolen items and restoration of public safety.
John Curtis and Leonard Wilson, two men described as colored, were arrested after forging checks in Chillicothe and the city. They pleaded guilty to forgery and were bound over to the grand jury on burglary at Fairview station five miles east of town. Mayor Coffey plans to press the forgery charge alongside burglary. They allegedly stole 12 pounds of Index tobacco valued at 4.80 and previously tried passing a forged 2.50 check at Rothrock grocery. After release they left town for Chillicothe and are believed to have past records, with photos to be sent to Baltimore.
Inter state Commerce Commission continued hearings on a proposed five percent freight rate increase by eastern railroads focusing on shipments of wooden barrels pails and similar merchandise. Manufactures in Louisville Cincinnati Cleveland Indianapolis St Louis and Sidney Ohio press their opposition to the proposed rise as railroad officials argue necessity.
Mrs Jessie M Freisch aged 28, described as mentally deranged, leaped from her home window in her night clothes and bare feet during heavy snow, wandered for hours before being located. Her condition remains critical.

An arson squad of militant suffragettes set fire to Hazelbank House near Inverness Scotland. The house, recently destroyed, belonged to the widow of a Councillor and was unoccupied. Suffrage placards and literature were found nearby.

Hazel Herdman twenty infatuated with Chas Manning shot and killed Mrs Harriet Manning in her Newark home. She died later at Mountainside hospital Montclair after taking poison in a personal crisis. Police traced a veiled suspect to Herdman and she confessed loving Manning caused the murder over a divorce promise.
