Deputy Woodworth and wife canvass the city for new members of the United Colony of Beavers and have added over fifty to the local colony. The state convention is planned for next year in this city. A meeting is set for Monday evening to initiate a large class and interested locals may sign up for membership and insurance.
Chairman D M Maxcy announces a Ladysmith gathering of the North Wisconsin Farmers' Association on September 14 to plan continued work on grass land projects. Attendance is urged as plans unfold after the death of Mr. Fairall, with expectant support from members and locals. Also noted are visits by Mrs M N Oistad and Mrs Levy Geisert with family, and a recount of Washburn teams and county players in ongoing games.
The Washburn creamery under O. J. Schmaling started Tuesday morning and will run steadily. New machinery has been added and the facility is in first class condition. Farmers in the area are being canvassed to participate, with milk and cream paid at the highest market price weekly.
C A Shoresman plans to stay in the city through spring after visiting Colerane Minnesota where his store building is under construction. The August 15 occupancy was delayed to October 15, making relocation impractical for fall business, so he chose to remain.
All services proceed as usual with the pastor delivering both sermons. Mrs Pengilly will sing at the evening service. Young people invited to the 7 15 meeting of the Young People's Alliance before conference week. Mrs W B Duffy visited Superior Monday. Warren Robison of Grandview did business here Tuesday. A baby boy born to Mr and Mrs Peter Hanson last Thursday. Mrs Phillips left Tuesday for Hudson for a short visit. Miss Susie Lincoln left Tuesday for St Paul for a couple weeks. Mr and Mrs Mose Tourville welcomed a baby boy last week. Millard Duffy left Monday for Superior to attend New Era Business College. James O Malley, a sailor on the Naples, injured his face by a ball at the grounds last Sunday. Mrs G White returned from Michigan where her mother was ill. sister Mrs McMonagel accompanied her.
Henry Reickhoff son of Mr and Mrs Fred Reickhoff of Third Street married Stefana Nowak at the Catholic parsonage with Rev Duncan officiating. Julius Casperson served as groomsman and Veronica Burlaga as bridesmaid. A wedding breakfast followed at the bride’s aunt Mrs Simon Schultz home. The couple will reside in the city and received a furnished residence as a principal gift.
The Congregational Church opens for worship and invites the public to attend all meetings. Sunday includes 10:30 morning service noon Sunday School 7 pm Christian Endeavor 7:45 pm evening service with a union meeting led by Rev. J B Davidson of Milwaukee.
State Good Roads delegates will hear from two top road experts at the State Fair on Thursday September 12. Illinois State Engineer A N Johnson and U S Government road authority Sam C Lancaster will address attendees. Lincolning support from the State Geological survey and 16 counties already applying for expert guidance, wisconsin road improvement aims gain momentum.
Joe Stanley of East Sixth Street invited a stranger, Joe Schultz, to dine at his home. After the meal Schultz disappeared with Stanley’s gold watch valued at $40 and $82.50 in cash. A sheriff’s warrant issued as investigators seek the thief, while Stanley laments the betrayal and vows caution.
