Commencement Exercises End Soon Amid Alumni Banquet Plans

Commencement exercises close tomorrow evening with an alumni banquet at Masonic Hall after Baccalaureate at Norwegian Lutheran Church. Rev Chr Christianson preached a strong sermon and the Walker school hosted class day programs. Memorial Day addresses were given at the Opera House by Rev Nuzum and Attorney E Alvord. Dr Plantz will speak at the final Commencement, diplomas presented by President Walsh. Berlin Wisconsin to celebrate July 2 to 4 with a fiftieth anniversary of the city incorporation.

BUILD SMALL MILL NEAR BURNT AKELEY SPARGUE SITE

John A. Jacobs will begin erecting a small mill this week near the site of the burned Akeley and Sprague mill. The plant will operate on a small scale initially for splitting posts and sawing lumber and will employ several men. As business grows it will likely be enlarged.

Docks Accident Leaves Matt Charron Injured at Twenty Foot Fall

Matt Charron was struck by a clam shell digger on a tramway at the Northwestern fuel company docks. He fell about twenty feet onto the deck of the steamer Uranus, crushing his skull and breaking a wrist. He was taken home and is under care, with guarded hopes for recovery.

Georgia Minstrels at Opera House Saturday Night

Georgia Minstrels Richard's and Pringle's Famous Georgia Minstrels will appear at the Opera House on Saturday night June 8. The popular group is greeted with delight by lovers of old time minstrelsy as the performance nears. The local manager expects a full house and strong box office receipts. Season opens for bass and pickerel fishing

The season for black rock and other bass and pickerel begins Saturday as fish are protected from March 1 to May 25 when they spawn. After May 25 they may be taken in this state section except with nets. Trolling or angling is allowed. Black bass under 8 inches must be returned if caught unintentionally.

A new legislature law punishes minors over eighteen who falsely claim age to obtain strong liquors. Violations bring a fine from 1 to 15 dollars or up to ten days in county jail, or both.
