Callipooia & Rock Creek Timber Co Elects Officers

The Callipooia and Rock Creek Timber Co held its first meeting at the Commercial Club rooms Monday morning. Officers elected include President O M Olson Washburn Vice President Jacob Johnson Bayfield and Secretary Treasurer R B Prince Ashland Directors Jacob Johnson R B Prince Geo H Mc Cloud Ed Stevens O M Olson. Stevens will cruise the timber in the western holdings starting today.

Assessors Meet to Plan Countywide Property Assessments

Dodge supervises a county assessors meeting in the court room to outline procedures for placing property on the assessment rolls. Present were former supervisor Morgan and numerous assessors from towns including Iron River Orienta Cable Bayfield Port Wing and Washburn with J N Kinney of Washburn City noted among attendees.

May Term Circuit Court List of Cases To Be Tried

A list of cases to be tried at the May term opens next Monday in Bayfield County. It includes murder, burglary, liquor selling, and gambling charges against named defendants, plus numerous civil actions such as Bayfield County Bank vs Bayfield County and other suits. Special for Ashland County covers Laura Thompson vs Oscar Thompson and Mary Mohlenkamp vs William Mohlenkamp.

Sermon Series at Methodist Church May Services

The Methodist church will host a Sunday morning children sermon on Three Kinds of Soil and a Sunday evening start of a Work series continuing through May. An evening chorus and a soprano alto duet are planned as special musical numbers.

The notice lists a church service next Sunday at 10 30 a m and a Sunday School at noon with an English service at 745 p m all on the same day.

Local Duluth Notes on Residents and Moves

Louis Segal conducted business in Duluth during the week. Andrew Rockstad left Saturday for Minneapolis hoping to work there. Mrs. Jake Segal hosted a Napkin Bee with several ladies on Tuesday afternoon. A Spies, who has toured Europe recently, returned to Duluth and joined the drug store of A E Swedberg.

Season Opens at Opera House with Eight Upcoming Shows

Manager Sweet announces a lineup for the coming month including For His Brothers Sake on May 2 and A Woman of Mystery on May 10. Other acts span May 3 May 11 May 15 17 and the week of June 20 with the Dorothy Campbell Stock Co. starting June 20. Lotus Quintette Co. from Chippewa Falls appears May 24 with commencement May 31. New Store For Finstad In Dahl Building Move

The Dahl building beside E Bergmann's will be moved to the lots near the Davidson store and refitted for H J Finstad furniture. F J Meehan undertakes the overhaul to create a fine store building, with the current Finstad premises also to be thoroughly renovated for a neat appearance.

Loveland Cunningham Wedding and Wisconsin Extension Courses

Theron A. Loveland formerly of this city marries Miss Jane Cunningham at the bride's Milwaukee home. The couple will reside in Minneapolis. Wisconsin University offers six week practical courses with in-person lab work starting June 24, combining theory and hands on instruction at low cost. May Plea Likely in Infant's Death Case at Bayfield

Amanda Gunderson of Spooner waived preliminary examination and was bound over to the Circuit Court on murder charges in the winter death of an infant at Bayfield. She is in county jail awaiting next week's court, reportedly ready to plead guilty. Her former mistresses speak highly of her, while her family contends she is in mental distress.
