Bayview Community Club Hosts First Annual Picnic
Bayview Community club held its first annual picnic at the Houghton school in Bayfield county drawing around 400 guests from Bayview, Washburn, and beyond. President W. E. Plant welcomed attendees while County Agent W. E. Brubaker spoken on cooperation, and Rev. O. W. Smith led a dedicatory flag ceremony amid performances by Miss Lucile Smith and Camp Fire girls. The day featured meals, recitations, a Red Cross appeal, field events, and a late dance. Membership rose to 150, signaling strong community ties and potential future collaborations with Bayfield and Washburn.

Graveling Work Starts on Road to Bayfield
Graveling crews led by Foreman Joe Arseneau open work on the city to Bayfield road. The city will cover to the city limits at the Raarup corner, then Bayfield County must continue. The road is badly rutted and has seen no work for years. The county should remove old corduroy and finish the improvement. Residents of Bay View welcome the likely easy repair.

Elaborate Fourth of July Celebration Planned in Washburn
An invitation invites outside towns to Washburn for a large Independence Day celebration on the Fourth. Old Flag Given to New Company by Washburn Veterans
A social gathering at the Savoy restaurant honored Lieut Ervin Leihy of Portland Ore the only surviving commissioned officer of Co K 4th Wisconsin Spanish American War. The flag carried by Washburn’s 1898 unit was unveiled by Lieut Leshy and gifted to Capt H H Peavey and his 6th Wisconsin infantry volunteers for service in France. The event recalled Bayfield county’s rapid mobilization in 1898 and anticipates reenactment and future war service by a new generation of local volunteers.

Miss Barbara D Moore of this city wed Mr John Wright Albers of Antigo on June 28 at her parents home. She led the English department at the local high school and is Beloit College 1912 alumna. The ceremony was by Rev D D Brownell, with a small guest list and a wedding breakfast for about thirty. Afterward a reception was held. the couple plan to live in Antigo and Duluth before heading to Chicago.

Flag Raising at K L Plant Sparks Citywide Pride
A thousand people gathered Friday evening at the Renfield Lamoreaux plant to watch employees unveil the new flag on a steel pole. Alex Gackowski presided as MC with Ed M Heermans and speakers Charles F Morris and H H Peavey delivering stirring patriotic addresses. The crowd burst into applause as the Stars and Stripes rose, marking the first flag-raising by a local manufacturer this year.

Shower Honoring Miss Violet Scantland At Miss Esther Arseneau Home
A pretty shower was given last Thursday evening at Miss Esther Arseneau’s home for Miss Violet Scantland. The lawn was decorated with jack o lanterns and guests danced sang and played games. Refreshments followed late. Miss Scantland received many pieces of cut glass and linen.
