Sizable rush order for 12x12 inch timber 12 to 60 feet long arrived at the Chicago office of Hines Lumber to repair flood damaged Santa Fe railroad bridges. Edward Hines Lumber sold its entire stock of heavy sawn timber exceeding 2,000,000 feet with railroads like Rock Island taking some too. Children’s Sunday postponed for a brief Children’s Day observance while the Maccabee Fraternity joins worship. A Washburn Board of Health ban on slaughtering and rendering cattle lard and tallow in the village takes effect June 16 1903.
