Joe Burgo of this city lost three fingers at a shingle machine at the Fleeth and Thompson mill in Cornucopia last Thursday. He was brought to this city for treatment of the wound.

First Session of City Board of Review Hears Tax Assessments
The first board of review session was held at the city clerk’s office on Tuesday with daily meetings planned until tax roll review ends. Assessor Westerlund presented the roll as three officers plus two supervisors and one city council member compose the board under a new ordinance. the assessor attends only as adviser. Taxpayers may present evidence if unhappy with assessments, but the board cannot alter figures without lawful proof.

Weekend Family Outing Ends After Ten Pleasant Days

Soda Plant Sees Two Major Soda Shipments This Week
The Barksdale plant received over 28 000 bags of soda for dynamite production from Chili. The steamer Parent delivered more than 22 000 bags and the Lambert about 6 000 bags, with part unloaded at Chicago. Crews haul bags by box cars to the plant as construction rushes.

Mooney Sicks Diphtheria as Bayfield Drowning Reported
Warren Mooney, son of Mr and Mrs H J Mooney of Odapah, has been ill with black diphtheria but is improving. A Bayfield message says Schovel, a Wachmush Lumber Company piler, drowned after being last seen at work. His body was recovered yesterday. he leaves a wife and eight children and had moved from Mason to Bayfield two years ago.
