A five year old boy, Joe Dodge of Pearson in western Bayfield County, died from exposure and starvation after being lost for more than six days. A massive search, including 300 volunteers from multiple towns, located him near Brule, but he died shortly after being brought to a farm home.

Holstein Herd Earns Federal Accredited Status in Bayfield County
The Larson herd of Orienta township, first in Bayfield County to achieve Federal Accredited status, passed two yearly Tuberculin tests under a Federal Department supervisor. Since starting Pure-bred Holsteins in 1917, no suspicious animals have appeared. Additional success comes from John Pearson, whose herd also earned Federal Accredited status after adding foundation cows.
