A five year old boy, Joe Dodge of Pearson in western Bayfield County, died from exposure and starvation after being lost for more than six days. A massive search, including 300 volunteers from multiple towns, located him near Brule, but he died shortly after being brought to a farm home.

The Larson herd of Orienta township, first in Bayfield County to achieve Federal Accredited status, passed two yearly Tuberculin tests under a Federal Department supervisor. Since starting Pure-bred Holsteins in 1917, no suspicious animals have appeared.
