Northern Pacific Adjusts Washburn Timetable Starting Monday

Beginning Monday January 30 Northern Pacific trains will leave Washburn at 7 15 am arriving Iron River 9 06 am and depart Iron River 6 05 pm arriving Washburn 7 55 pm. The change aims to boost day trips to Iron River or Duluth after a petition by local business men.

Four Are Cremated Two Women and Two Small Children

A devastating house fire at George S. Barnes’s Iron River area farm near Eau Claire Lakes claimed the lives of Mrs. Barnes, her two young children, and Miss Elsie Meisner. Mrs. Barnes reentered the flames to save her children, perishing with them. Meisner also died after helping. Howard and Anne Barnes survived. Barnes’s property is described as a large, modern family farm. The tragedy follows reports of the disaster and details of the victims, with funeral arrangements noted.

Carryall Social for Methodist Youth at Kinsvier Farm

The Methodist church youth plan two socials at Louis Kinsvier's two miles west of town next Monday evening. Carryalls depart at 7 30 and 8 15 from the parsonage post office and Mr Charles Hner. Tickets 25 cents including ride and supper, obtainable from committee members.

Farewell fete for Hines manager Boynton at Hotel Washburn

Eight local Hines Lumber Co. employees hosted a farewell banquet at Hotel Washburn for O L Boynton the plant manager departing for Fernie Canada to head Elk Lumber Co. Speakers included M Maitland and M C Anderson as guests and guests exchanged good will and gifts a cut glass punch bowl sherbet glasses on a glass tray valued near a hundred dollars.

Clausen Backs La Hollette In Senate Vote

Assemblyman L N Clausen voted for Governor La Hollette in the U S Senate ballot while Senator Sanborn backed Judge Webb. The home city approves Clausen's course and expects it to mirror district sentiment. Sanborn's stance stemmed from friendship with Webb.
