Washburn High School senior class staged A Scrap of Paper last night at the Opera House drawing a large audience. Cast delivered lines confidently and organizers deserve praise for a successful production that will fund a school memorial.
Mrs. A V Sweet has been on the sick list during the past week. P J Peterson of Bayfield trans acted business in the city yesterday. Grand Chancellor Commando Conway of Antigo attended a Knights of Pythias meeting Tuesday evening. A baby girl was born to Mr and Mrs Thomas Monette Tuesday morning.
Plans to consolidate the Ashland lodge with the local Knights of Pythias seek membership growth. Grand Chancellor A C Conway of Antigo announced in Ashland that the move could be carried out if the local lodge agrees.
James M Skinner grand chief templar visited the city Monday evening as the guest and principal speaker of the Good Templar Lodge. He is praised as a splendid talker who thoroughly understands his subject. The visit to Ashland occurred Tuesday and Wednesday.
A committee including RE. C. Alvord Nels M. Oscar and A. I. Lien will meet with a Ashland lodge panel to draft articles of consolidation. The plan would unite all Ashland members with the Washburn lodge, greatly enlarging and benefiting the local lodge and reviving an inactive Ashland unit as Washburn is described as a leading Northwest order.
The service next Sunday at the Norwegian Lutheran Church will be conducted in Norwegian. The Young People's society plans a meeting next Wednesday evening at the Ole Hovind home on West Pine Street.
Neils Ness broke his leg at work on Andrew Severson's farm when his leg was caught under a log. Ness will be laid up for some time. Attorney Pray of Ashland transacted business in the city last Saturday. Mrs. Starr was in town Monday evening. A party and dance at the Hulbert house last Saturday drew a large crowd with refreshments at midnight. Goeltz and Westerland provided the music. Many E. U. Fraternity members and friends attended the annual installation of officers last Monday evening.
The Anti tuberculosis crusade of the Modern Woodmen of America supports the Colorado Springs Sanatorium. Bayfield County camps raise funds to purchase a tent for the Sanatorium aiding the national effort. Banks report most camps have donated, funds to be sent to management later this month.
The Masonic Hall hosted a well attended Men’s Club Banquet last Monday evening with 125 guests. The Ladies of the Church joined as guests. program included instrumental music by Prof. M W Matthews and Mrs E G Moore, a Treland lecture by Wm F Shea, and vocal solos by Allen T Pray.

Elsie Gautschi of Doverfield Wis is spending two to three weeks with her parents John and Mrs. Gautschi.
Rumors claim the Omaha Elevator will be leased and operated next season. Milwaukee grain men report The Omaha Railway Company leased the facility from Fred Underwood, with Van Duser Harrington Co of Minneapolis as purchasers, ending three years of idleness.

Mrs. L. T. Hart has been very sick with neuralgia but is somewhat improved. R. A. Hering reports business in Superior this week. Martin Arntsen ran the billiard room during Hering's absence. D. M. Maxcy visited Minneapolis to see his brother from the East. The column notes farmers face financial reversals and the uncertainty of speculative life.
Charles Young a prominent Washburn farmer was injured at work in the woods for Hans P Swanby when a falling limb struck his head. He was taken to the city for medical care and required twenty stitches to close a scalp wound.
The annual meeting at the Commercial Club rooms elected Geo. McCloud of Ashland as president Frank Stark of Bayfield as vice president and R B Prince of Ashland as secretary and treasurer. The company owns a large timber tract in the west estimated at over four hundred million feet with many local residents invested.
A Penny Social is to be held by the Methodist Ladies the first of next month. Plans emphasize a good time with proceeds likely aiding church activities.
The Congregational Ladies' Aid Society will meet next Wednesday afternoon at Mrs. George Flack's home with large attendance requested. Bayfield guests Edith LaBonte and May Conlin visited the Stevens family. Captain Wm. O'Neil Cass Lake visited the city with Mrs. O'Neal, returning Monday. William Landraint, supervisor of assessments, transacted city business Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Segal left for the Twin Cities to select new stock for the Leader. Art Anne made a business trip to Minneapolis and surrounding points. Two horses for sale through C. N. Cramer & Co. Dorn's Ointment praised for eczema by Hon. S. W. Matthews. Sale: cheap horse wagon and harness via Eben Burdick.
